One of our listeners asked for the buttercream frosting recipe from the Chocolate Cake story.
This is one of those recipes that I know by heart so it isn’t written down anywhere–
1 stick of salted butter
1 bag of confectioners sugar (1 lb, give or take)
some milk (maybe two tablespoons?)
a few tsp of vanilla extract
Soften the butter on a warm stove or in the microwave–do not melt-just soften! Using a hand mixer or a standmixer–whichever, add in the milk and the confects sugar and vanilla extract to taste. I will often switch up, more vanilla or less depending on what I’m using the frosting for so just keep tasting it and adding sugar, milk, and vanilla until you get to the right taste and consistency!
Pro-tip–you can also add in a little melted white chocolate for a really rich buttercream!

Thank you so much, Jen! I think I have messed up before by being too stingy with the powdered sugar.
